NGC 6888 The Crescent Nebula in Narrow Band


About this Object
NGC 6888, better known as the Crescent Nebula is an emission nebula caused by the ejection of mass and strong stellar wind from its central star known as WR136. WR136 is a Wolf Rayet type star which is characterized by extemely hot temperatures and strong ejection of material. This image combines the light from Hydrogen, Sulpher and Oxygen emissions. Hydrogen and Sulpher are colorized red and Oxygen blue and green.
