About
this Object Discovered in 1845 by JR Hind, Hinds Crimson Star is a carbon type star which has a fairly cool temperature of 2240-2290 deg Kelvin. The ratio of carbon to oxygen has been reversed from the normal main sequence resulting in a deep red appearance. Hinds Crimson Star, also known at R Leporus, resides in the constellation Lepus. Its reported distance from us is 1100 light years. Interestingly R Leporus is huge and has a radius of 480-535 times our sun's radius which means that if it was our star, its outer shell would extend half way to Jupiter.
