About this object

This unusual yellow reflection nebula is listed under several catalog names including LBN 813 and Barnard 14 and is embedded in a dark molecular cloud listed as Barnard 22 which lies within the Taurus-Auriga molecular cloud. This molecular cloud is dense enough to totally block the visible light from many stars which lie behind it. This area is also listed as the nearest large stellar nursery at 450 light-years distant.

This image was taken from mag 4.5 suburban skies always makes it a challenge to image faint dusty regions. However long exposures helped gather enough signal to show the dust that covers this area of the sky.
