About this Object
M48 is an open star cluster in the constellatin Hydra. Its magnitude is listed as 5.5 meaning it is possible to view it with the naked eye from a dark site. The cluster comprises the brighter stars near the center of the image. This image was a test image using the new Stellavue SV105 refractor and the Stellarvue 2" field flattener. The flattener does a decent job over 80% of the large 43mm diagonal area of the STL 11K chip
