this Object M48 is an open star cluster in the constellatin Hydra. Its magnitude is listed as 5.5 meaning it is possible to view it with the naked eye from a dark site. The cluster comprises the brighter stars near the center of the image. This image was a test image using the new Stellavue SV105 refractor and the Stellarvue 2" field flattener. The flattener does a decent job over 80% of the large 43mm diagonal area of the STL 11K chip
