M79, Lepus

M79 is a rather small globular cluster located 41,000 light years away in the constellation Lepus.  It has a magnitude of 8.4 and surface brightness of 12.  Its not a grand as the globulars of summer and is located in the southern sky.  M79 only rises 35deg above the horizon at my location of 30deg north.
