M94, Canes Venatici

M94 in Canes Venatici is an unusual galaxy in which the central core is intensly bright and in encircled by a blue spiral star forming region.  Outside of this the outer arms seem very dust and compact with several star forming regions intermixed with the dust.  M94 is estimated to be 20 million light years distant.
