About
this Object A grand design spiral Galaxy in the Constellation Antlia. NGC 2997 is tilted about 45degrees from out perspective so we do not see the galaxy face on but from an angle. The galaxy is estimated to lie nearly 55 million light years distant. This image was taken at the southern location of the Winter Star Party on West Summerland Key Fl. The image was interrupted by clouds each night but I was able to aquire 2hrs of Luminance and over an hour of Red and Blue. The green frames were taken very low in the southwestern sky which added to the challange of color balancing the image.
