NGC4038-9 is a classic example of what are actually two galaxies
interacting or colliding with one another. The nickname is the Ringtail
Galaxy due to the long filaments extending from each. The
filaments can faintly be seen extending off the back of each galaxy.
This image was processed to enhance these filaments. This image
is the sum of (30) 3min exposures guided with Star 2000 taken from my backyard
observatory
in Ocean Springs MS. The image was processed with Astroart
3.0 and Photoshop.
