NGC 5139 Omega Centauri


About this Object
Omega Centauri is the brightest and largest known Globular Cluster in the sky and at an apparent magnitude of 3.7 can be seen wih the naked eye. It lies in the southern Constellation Centaurus which makes it difficult to image from most areas of North America. This image was taken at the Winter Star Party on West Summerland Key FL while Omega Centauri was near its maximum altitude of 17 degress.
