About
this Object This image of NGC 891 was a project I started in November 07 and finished in December. Its over 23hrs of data on the field surrounding NGC 891 in the constellation Andromeda. NGC 891, an edge on sprial galaxy, lies around 30million light years distant, I included a double size image in order to show the many very faint galaxies in this region. Please view the "hightest resolution" link to see the doublesized image and scan around the field. Many small galaxies are easily visible down to magnitude 19. Others, very faint, probably close to magnitude 20. This image was processed at 2x the native resolution of the scope/camera combination. CCD stack was used to calibrate and stack the images, PixInsight 1.0 was used to remove light gradients and produce the color composite. Photoshop CS2 was used for final adjustment.
