PK205+14.1 Medusa Nebula
About
this Object
The Medusa Nebula is an often imaged ancient planetary nebula in Gemini. Its large size and low surface brightness make it a difficult target for a small scope. I began this project in Nov 07 and finished during Dec collecting 11.8hrs of broadband color data and 20hrs of narrow band data from my suburban backyard. The image above is a straight RGB composite taken with my 90mm refractor. The narrow band link below the image will take you to the narrow band page showing the object in Hydrogen, Sulphur II and Oxygen III light. Finally I combined both the Broad Band RGB and Narrow Band SII, Ha, and OIII frames to create a hybrid deep composite.
