Veil Nebula

About this Object
This image of the veil nebula is a 4 panel mosaic taken with a 80mm refractor. The Veil Nebula is a super nova reminant, the reminants of a star which exploded roughly 15,000 years ago in the constellation Cygnus. It lies nearly 1,800 light years distant and is 5 times the size of the full moom. At the time of the explosion, it would have been seen as a very bright star, rivaling the crescent Moon. This image of the Veil was done with narrow band filters. Hydrogen Alpha was mapped to green, Sulpher was mapped to red and Oxygen III was mapped to blue.
