NGC1055 is a spiral galaxy that we see edge on. The equatorial
dust lane is seen obscuring the galaxy's core. Two background
galaxies, 16th mag MAC 0242+0023 and 16th mag MAC 0241+0023 are easily
seen.
This image was taken from my backyard observatory
in Ocean Springs MS, limiting mag 4.5, with a Starlight Xpress MX7C.
The image was guided using Star2000. Processing was done with Astroart,
AIP4WIN, and Photoshop.
