The Sun

About this object

Getting ready for the Transit of Venus on 5 June, I tried out some techniques to image the sun. This image was taken at 480mm focal length with a Stellarvue Blackhawk achromat refractor and Baader Solar filter. All of the active sunspot regions on this day facing Earth are visible. The sunspot on the lower left part of the sun's disk (AR1492) threw out a Coronal Mass Ejection toward Mars earlier on this day.
