Okie Tex Star Party 2018

About this object

The Okie Tex Star party held in Kenton OK, in the Black Mesa area, has virtually no light pollution what so ever. This year’s event during Oct 18 was cloudy or rainy on every night. Very unusual for the area. However on the first night I was there we had some clear skies for a few hours and I was able to take this image of the Milky Way looking west towards my RV and telescope setup which was doing a pointing model at the time. There was abundant red sky glow radiating across the sky. 30min later a cold front moved through and the wind blew at about 40mph and the temperature dropped from the 70’s into the 40’s where it stayed for the majority of the next 6 days.
